National Guard Tour and Workshops
August 7th 12:00 – 4:00pm
The Guard is pulling out the stops and planning an exceptional experience for WA-ACTE Attendees. This Tour, co-sponsored by WASTS, is designed to show Teachers engaged in CTE teaching in five different disciplines (Mechanics, Fabrication, Avionics, Culinary, and Health Care) that the Guard has interesting and advanced equipment located throughout WA State that can be used to bring their classroom instruction to life.
The Tour will offer demonstration stations set up to be visited on a Round Robin schedule at the WA Army National Guard Spokane Readiness Center (only 10 minutes from the Conference Hotel). Bus transportation and lunch provided by the Guard. The stations will cover each of the five disciplines (Mechanics (extensively), Fabrication, Avionics, Culinary, and Health Care). At each station, there will be soldiers engaged in an activity related to the equipment, with a "narrating" soldier next to story boards describing what's happening and answering questions.
