Scholarship information for Washington State students interested in careers in healthcare

HSCTE cannot directly endorse nor fund outside scholarships but we strive to provide information for all Health Science students in the state of Washington.

HSCTE Health Science Scholarships

HSCTE is pleased to announce the availability of two $500 Scholarships to students who have been or are presently in a Healthcare / Health Science program and who are being nominated by a current HSCTE & WA-ACTE member.

The scholarships are to be used for tuition and other direct school expenses at an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the 2021-2022 school year only (shorter programs at two-year technical schools qualify as a two-year school).

  1. Application Packet received by HSCTE Scholarship Selection Committee by Friday, May 20, 2022
    1. No late applications will be accepted
  2. Applications will be reviewed by the HSCTE Scholarship Selection Committee
  3. Decisions of the Scholarship Selection Committee are final
Directions for completing the application are described within the applications themselves.

HSCTE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

​HSCTE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION For FINANCIAL NEED

  1. Graduating High School Senior who has been, or is presently, in a Healthcare program or classes.
  2. Plan to attend a two- or four-year college or university or technical school as a full-time student, beginning Fall, 2022.
  3. Recommended by a current HSCTE Member. (HSCTE Member must also be a current WA-ACTE Member).
  4. GPA: Cumulative 2.5 or higher (this will be on your transcript).

  3. Demonstration of financial need.
  4. Recommended by a current HSCTE Member. (HSCTE Member must also be a current WA-ACTE Member).
  5. GPA: Cumulative 2.5 or higher (this will be on your transcript).

Washington State Opportunity Scholarship

WSOS is administered by College Success Foundation

​The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship helps low- and middle-income Washington state residents earn degrees or certifications in the high-demand fields of science, technology, engineering, math and health care.


WSOS offers two scholarship programs for Washington state residents pursuing a credential towards a high-demand career in Washington state. Our Baccalaureate Scholarship is for Scholars pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM or health care field. The Career and Technical Scholarship (CTS) is for Scholars pursuing a certificate, apprenticeship or associate degree in a high-demand trade, STEM or health care field such as welding, manufacturing or information technology. Our scholarship funds are flexible and can be used to cover tuition, fees and other costs of attendance such as housing, transportation, food and more.
The Baccalaureate Scholarship application opens each year in January.

The CTS application opens three times a year in May, September and January.

Washington State Opportunity Scholarship
To Be Eligible:
  • Must be a Washington state resident (as defined in RCW 28B.15.012)
  • Must have earned a high school diploma or GED from a Washington State high school or institution:
    • By June of the year of application for Baccalaureate applicants, or
    • Before the application deadline for CTS applicants.
  • Must file the 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov or submit the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) at readysetgrad.org/wasfa by Wednesday, March 7, 2018. 
    • Please note: Students who are eligible to submit the FAFSA due to immigration status must submit the FAFSA in order to be eligible for this scholarship. Students who are ineligible to complete the FAFSA must submit the WASFA instead.
    • Students need not qualify for aid, but must apply to one of these applications by the deadline stated.
    • Baccalaureate applicants have additional requirements identified on the website
  • Must be pursuing:
    • An eligible high-demand major (approved majors) in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health care in an eligible Washington state college or university fall term for Baccalaureate applicants, or
    • An eligible high-demand program in an eligible Washington state community or technical college for the upcoming term for CTS applicants.
  • Applicants for both scholarships may not already have an existing bachelor's degree and must be planning to enroll at least a half time college student (6+ credits).
